Program
Information:
Sagamore
Rowing Association is now excepting applications for the Summer Rowing Program.
This program is open to all high school rowers of varying levels of experience.
Interested rowers will have two options of training to choose.
The
first option is designed for the recreational team; this option is
designed for rowers who would like to improve their technique as
well as their personal times. The focus will be on development and personal
improvement, on and off the water. All skill levels are welcome and strongly
encouraged to attend. This will be offered in two-week sessions over a
six-week period.
The
second option is for our travel team, this option is designed for rower who would like to continue staying competitive
while their team is out of season. This option is based on selection. Athletes
will be required to meet the program’s standard from the applications
received, we will accept twenty rowers total; 8 male rowers, 8 female rowers,
2 male coxswains, and 2 female coxswains. The selected rowers will
attend three major regattas, competing against some of the top teams in the
country. This will be held over the entire six-week period.
The program is targeting the following requirement in order to be considered for
the travel team:

Athletes need to be recommended by a member of their coaching
staff.
· Individual Membership to USRowing. A USRowing
Membership Application must be completed and accepted prior to camp
registration.

Must be between the ages of 14 to 18 years old. For the 2010 season, an athlete
born in 1992 or later shall be eligible to row as a Junior.
·
2k erg score of 6:45 or better is required for all Heavyweight males and
a score of 7:00 or better is required for all Lightweight males.*
·
2k erg score of 7:45 or better is required for all Heavyweight females
and a score of 8:00 or better is required for all Lightweight females.*
*Any
athletes under the age of 16 are encouraged to participate; looking for a 2k erg
score of 7:05 or better for all under 16 male and an 8:05 or better for all
under 16 females.
Application procedures:
Applications
for those meeting program criteria and wish to travel with the team
will be
accepted on a first-come first-serve basis.
Once the camp is full for the traveling team, a waiting list will be established.
The two training options
are being held in conjunction with one another. Additional boats may be added
from the waiting list if there is sufficient numbers to produce another
competitive boat. Sculling boats will be considered with the same criteria.
Full
payment deadline for the traveling team: May 15th, 2010
Full
payment deadline for the recreational team: June 22nd, 2010
Payment
should be mailed to Coach Hugo’s attention at the address listed on the
application form. If payment is not received on full by
the deadline date, the
athlete’s slot in the program will be forfeited unless other arrangements have
been made.
